American Builder: The Bohannan Legacy

As a fifth-generation builder, Benjamin Bohannan carries forward a proud family tradition of American craftsmanship and infrastructure development that dates back to the 1930s.

The Bohannan story began with Benjamin’s great-great-grandfather, Thomas Bohannan, who contributed to the nation's early transportation networks through roadway construction. In 1949, the family business was formally established as Bohannan Paving. By 1958, the next generation—led by Iris Bohannan and his brothers Therin and Olaf—expanded the operation under the name T.O.B.I. Transport, providing critical materials such as cement, rock, and sand to support California’s post-war housing boom.

In 1964, Benjamin’s grandfather, Glenn Earl Bohannan, and his brothers launched Bohannan Bros. Ready Mix Concrete, operating multiple plants throughout the Greater Los Angeles area. Their commitment to excellence left a mark on landmark projects, including the high-rise Federal Building at 11000 Wilshire Blvd., with the family contributing to over 38 million gross square feet (GSF) of construction from 1938 through 2002.

Today, MIA Constructure, led by Benjamin Bohannan, continues this multigenerational legacy. Operating across Southern Florida, Constructure specializes as a general and concrete contractor with an emphasis on mass concrete structures and structural design efficiency.

A Builder Rooted in Relationships

Benjamin’s approach is grounded in relationships—working with clients as friends and treating tradespeople as valued collaborators. His reputation for trust, integrity, and delivery has led to long-standing partnerships with both private developers and public institutions.

Construction Expertise & Project Delivery

Benjamin has delivered over 17,193,275 GSF of multi-family housing and has poured more than 15,000 cubic yards in a single mat foundation pour. His structural expertise includes:

Elevator core pours up to 95 feet below grade

Vertical concrete framed structures up to 31 stories

Construction within city height limit constraints

Efficient top-out schedules for high-rise residential projects

One of Benjamin’s most notable recent projects is the 31-level mixed-use high-rise at 11th & Broadway in San Diego, developed by Pinnacle International. The project included a 7-level parking structure podium, 300 residential units, and 658 parking stalls—completed from core to shell in just 18 months, and fully occupied within 22 months. The building was designed by architect Toni Cutri with structural engineering by Glotman Simpson.

Proven Track Record

Over 22 years as a builder, Benjamin has completed:

9,813 multi-family units/residences

25,538 parking stalls

Specialized DHS and federal government defense projects

Cultural landmarks such as the Huntington Botanical Gardens

With a diverse portfolio spanning from high-rise urban cores to mission-critical government facilities, Benjamin combines technical precision with timeless values—heritage, integrity, and performance.
